Award for Dickie!
We'll start with the news that Tony Parkes and Steve Thompson are set to remain at the seaside for another two years at least. (According to the ink on the contract anyway) Upon the news Tony Parkes told BBC Radio Lancashire "We feel we're punching above our weight. What we have done so far has been above expectation. Working with Simon Grayson has been excellent and we all just hope we can take Blackpool further." Both Parkes and Thompson in my opinion are un-sung hero's although they've recently been getting acclaim from supporters the media seems to ignore the influence of these two masters.
On the subject of acclaim, Jimmy Armfield this week recieved the highest award the Football League can give. The award for Contribution to League Football which he recieved at the 2008 Football League Awards. At the same bash Blackpool player Wes Hoolahan was named the 14th best player outside the premiership. In 4-4-2's top 50 countdown.
Another Blackpool player winning awards was Paul Dickov. The loan sensation scored five in five for Blackpool since joining from Man City and was rewarded with the PFA 2up Championship player of the month award. However it wasn't all champagne and trophies for Dickov, he still subject to late fitness test ahead of tommorow's game and as spent all week recovering from a hamstring injury.
From a current Blackpool forward to a former one and Brett Ormerod is on the move again. This time he's joined Nottingham Forest on loan until the end of the season. Currently under a PNE contract he will now miss the derby game, but his move may signal the end of Forest's interest in current Blackpool striker Kiegan Parker; until the summer at least. Seasiders fans will be hoping Brett does well for Forest as he is still very much a fans favourtie and was greeted with applause when he scored vs Blackpool Reserves earlier in the season.
For those wandering about ticket sales for tommorows game, there were just over 100 still available at noon today; so if your wanting to go, call the ticket office early doors and get one. Also tommorow we will see the unvieling of a permanent memorial to Alan Ball. The seasiders world cup winning legend will have a portrait unvieled in his memory. A champagne ceromony will commence at 1:30pm tommorow on the hall of fame as freinds and family of the player gather to see the unvieling. The memorial has been organsised by BSA (Well done them). On the news Glenn Bowley said "It will be a fitting tribute to one of the most famous players to have represented Blackpool FC."
That's a wrap guy's! But the fun doesn't stop here. Hope along to the forum (By clicking the link below) and you can join in the big debate and the footballing banter.
