Landscape Design, Horticulture Education & Research (Endowed Chair) Associate Professor
This is an endowed position, and the selected candidate must have a distinguished record of teaching, research and service. Candidate must hold an earned doctoral degree from a regionally accredited institution or equivalent accreditation in landscape design, horticulture, urban design, or related discipline; demonstrate a record of sustained achievement in teaching, research, and service; be qualified to teach courses in landscape design, environmental design, or other design courses related to the built environment; provide evidence of experience in the landscaping and/or the horticulture industry; and exhibit commitment to teamwork and interdisciplinary collaboration, and strong interpersonal and communication skills.
The hire will: (1) Provide instruction in landscape design in the new MA (Environmental Studies) program, and in related areas as determined by qualifications, interest, and needs of the College of Arts and Sciences; (2) Take leadership role in the recruitment, mentoring and retention of students and faculty, and in the overall growth, of the environmental studies program; (3) Develop a vigorous research and outreach program in landscape design, environmental design, and related fields; (4) Develop working relationships with the landscaping and horticulture industry to assist with student job placement and research grant procurement; and (5) work collaboratively on research opportunities, teaching activities, and program development with the MA program faculty and other interdisciplinary faculty in the College of Arts and Sciences.
