Worker probed over 'web gambling'
Police have confirmed officers are investigating allegations a worker has gambled substantial sums of his company's funds.

The claims are understood to concern a telecommunications firm based in Inverness.

Northern Constabulary said it was unable to comment on media reports that the individual may have lost as much as £1m.

It has been alleged the money was lost on an internet betting site.

The force said: "Police in Inverness are carrying out enquiries into an allegation of misuse of company funds.

"Enquiries are at an early stage and are expected to go on for some time as a substantial sum of money is believed to be involved."
