Timmy Mallett - better known for hitting youngsters over the head with a foam hammer - is to show off his artistic side in Aberdeen.

The former star of the Wacaday children's television show has the first Scottish exhibition of his paintings opening on Saturday.

The pictures will be on display at the Artists Gallery in Holburn Street.

He is also expected to make a personal appearance on Sunday afternoon, alongside about 15 of his paintings.

He said of the two-week exhibition: "I've always loved painting and I'm delighted that my first ever Scottish exhibition will be in my favourite Scottish city."

Sandy Murray, of Artists Gallery, said: "We are absolutely delighted to be hosting Timmy's first ever Scottish exhibition."
