Armed robbers raid travel agents
Staff at a County Durham travel agents were threatened when armed robbers raided the premises.

The two men, one carrying a firearm, burst into Thomas Cook in Consett and threatened three female staff then made off with an amount of currency.

They escaped in a silver Vauxhall Corsa which had been reported stolen several weeks earlier.

Durham Police have appealed for witnesses to the robbery on Middle Street on Thursday afternoon.

The Corsa was later found burned out on Crookhall Road, on the outskirts of the town.
