August 6, 2008 9:20 a.m. EST Kris Alingod - AHN News Writer Washington, D.C. (AHN) - Paris Hilton has released a new video in response to Sen. John McCain's (R-AZ) controversial TV ad mocking her celebrity status. Lounging in a chair in a swimsuit, the hotel-heiress says in the video, "Hey America, I'm Paris Hilton and I'm a celebrity too. Only I'm not from the olden days and I'm not promising change like that other guy. I'm just hot." "But then that wrinkly white-haired guy used me in his campaign ad, which I guess means that I'm running for president," she adds before declaring, "I want America to know that I'm, like, totally ready to lead." Pictures of Yoda and Larry King are shown, then Hilton talks about her energy policy, a hybrid of McCain's offshore drilling plan and Sen. Barack Obama (D-IL) support for new technologies. "Energy crisis solved. I'll see you at the debates," the 27-year-old says. The video, posted at the website funnyordie.com, comes the same week Hilton's mother criticized McCain for launching a TV spot comparing Obama to celebrities like her daughter and Britney Spears. The commercial was "a complete waste of the country's time and attention at the very moment when millions of people are losing their homes and their jobs," Hilton's mother, who has contributed $4,600 along with her husband to McCain's campaign, said on Monday. McCain, 71, began running an ad in 11 swing states last week that called Obama "the biggest celebrity in the world," while pictures of Hilton and Spears were shown. McCain's campaign issued a statement Tuesday welcoming Hilton's video. Tucker Bounds, campaign spokesman told Fox News, "It sounds like Paris Hilton supports John McCain's 'all of the above' approach to America's energy crisis - including both alternatives and drilling. Paris Hilton might not be as big a celebrity as Barack Obama, but she obviously has a better energy plan."
