Aussie game charts: June 2-June 8

Mario Kart Wii reclaims the top spot down under.

Five weeks after it debuted at number one, Mario Kart Wii is finally reclaiming the top podium position in the Australian games chart, according to data trackers GfK Australia.

Ever since Mario Kart Wii's release, the Wii Play with Wii Remote bundle hasn't been far behind in the charts, and last week was no exception, with the bundle taking out second place for the week of June 2-June 8. Newcomer Lego Indiana Jones: The Original Adventures on the PlayStation 2 can be found in third place, with its Wii counterpart in 10th. SingStar Party Hits has risen up three spots to number four. The reigning champion for the past month, Wii Fit, has fallen dramatically from being last week's top dog to this week's fifth spot. The Grand Theft Auto IV duo has slipped again this week, with the Xbox 360 version in sixth place and the PlayStation 3 version in seventh. Buzz! Pop Quiz can be found in the eighth spot, whereas Activision's Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock bundle for the PlayStation 2 can be found rocking it out at number nine.

Despite not making it to number one in the overall chart, Lego Indiana Jones: The Original Adventures has managed to have a strong presence in every chart except the PC charts. It even managed to take out the first positions in the PlayStation 2, Nintendo DS, and PlayStation Portable charts.

Digital distribution is never taken into account with these "Sale Results". Thus, it's valid to point out that the Sims probably wouldn't be so high on the PC chart.

Looks like Nintendo is finally solving the shortages of Mario Kart, both it and Wii Fit have seen the most shortages that i have seen in a long time.

Haha, jeez, The Sims 2 takes up 7of the top 10 PC spots. It really does sadden me. Kudos to the Wii stuff, actually keeping GTAIV down the latter half of the chart.

While Nintendo is beating everybody, everywhere, it is substantially beating GTAIV in Australia.. -Nice.

WiiPlay.. My gosh. Every month when I see it up there; it's crazy how it continues to sell hundreds of thousands of copies.

While it is a crappy long term game, I can understand how it serves as a good introduction to the WiiMote's capabilities. I guess people are willing to spend the extra $10, no matter how bad it is.

I would have bought it instead of a WiiMote, except that would have been after they started packaging WiiMotes with jackets, before the WiiPlay 'mote came with a jacket..

All in all, I really don't care. I'm in Canada. :]

Wii Play is STILL up there! What has it been, a year and a half now since it came out?
