Source: Shacknews, reporting on a now-pulled Web site for 3D Realms founder Scott Miller's Radar Group.

What we heard: In 2005, 3D Realms and Take-Two officially revived Prey after the property had spent roughly 10 years in limbo. Developed by Human Head Studios (Rune) for the PC and Venom Games (Rocky: Legends) for the Xbox 360, Prey's reception, while not exactly cold, was underwhelming given its decade-long development.

Sales of the extraterrestrial-invasion-themed shooter weren't exactly out of this world--319,000 units across all platforms in the US, according to the latest figures from the NPD Group. Nonetheless, 3D Realms chief Scott Miller said in a 2007 FiringSquad interview that a sequel for the game had been "mapped out...from a high-level story standpoint."

Further evidence that 3D Realms is prepping a Prey sequel surfaced today via a now-pulled page on the Web site for the Radar Group, a new IP creation and migration specialty company helmed by 3D Realms founder Scott Miller and Jim Perkins. Shacknews reports that earlier today, the site listed several projects in the works at Radar Group, including 3D Realms' Prey 2, Recoil Games' Earth No More, third-person adventure game Incarnate, and two unannounced titles.

Of Prey 2, the site gave a brief description of the game as well as an initial concept drawing. "This time, abandoned and framed for the disappearance of his family, Tommy escapes an Earth that no longer wants him for a future that cannot survive without him," reads the description (as related by Shacknews). The game was reportedly listed for release on the Xbox 360 and PC, though no developer was attached to the project.

As for the likely suspects, Human Head Studios announced in February 2007 that it would be teaming with fashion mogul Mark Ecko on an all-original action game, right before the developer's Madison, Wisconsin, offices burned down two months later. The studio currently has no other announced projects in the oven, as it were. Venom Games is currently at work on Take-Two's Don King-endorsed pugilist sim Prizefighter. As for 3D Realms developing the game internally, the developer's Web site clearly states that only one project is in development at any one time, and that project is currently Duke Nukem Forever.

The official story: Take-Two, Human Head, and 3D Realms all had not responded to requests for comment as of press time.

Bogus or not bogus?: Radar Group's knee-jerk reaction of pulling the site makes this look not bogus.

i do not see how they story will be continued. By the way the game ended there will probably be no continuation. it would rather be a new story line full of suprises, the first one was so mi possitive the sequel will!!

I hope that Prey 2 will continue to use the latest version of the amazing Doom 3 engine (IdTech4) or better the latest IdTech5 !!!

The first one felt like a rushed quake/doom knockoff, too dark and aimless.(funny for a game that took 10 years to make).Liked it but it didn't quit go as far as it could have in level design or AI.

Prey was alright, a bit weird and set itself up so obviously for a sequel given the ending of Prey. The leaked plot would make sense, but I can't see Prey 2 being a huge blockbuster given the lacklustre performance of the first game.

The first game had a wonderful concept, but the lack of dying soon meant that you didn't play tactically, You just went all out, killing as many as you can before you died.... Good game, but very short lived.

first one was distinctly average worth the 5 pounds, i really hope the sequel is an improvement, hopefully gone will the trite soundtrack be , maybe the enemies will be more interesting this time round (and varied) and the weapons will be seem more powerful.

The first game had great graphics, a below average sci-fi story (that was actually pulled off pretty well) and plenty of very innovative gameplay mechanics......that also weren't used that well. It basically just felt like another boring doom 3 where you could walk on walls, and I had already had FAR too much of doom 3's bland gameplay. I'm hoping that they still keep the portals, but maybe make them a more integral part of the gameplay? If they could use the portals to even a fraction of the coolness factor that "Portal" used them to, this game would be a must-buy for me.

The first one was pretty decent, the first ten minutes were very memorable and while it certainly wasn't the best game ever (I hated the weapons) the campaign was definitely satisfying- especially (SPOILER ALERT) when you bash your girlfriends head in with a pipe wrench close to the end. Of course, you can kill her in any way you choose but the pipe wrench seemed the most humane at the time.

The 1st was cool so i guess and with the ending it was bound 2 have a sequel so i wouldn't doubt it. I 'm looking forward to the Duke Nukem as well but when in the blue heck will i begin to hear good news like "Max Payne 3" currently in development. I am waiting patiently to see the series' conclusion and Remedy if your seeing this i would like to have ya'll know that i would personally like 2 help in crafting the final story for this one to really take it out with a bang and redeem the series from its bit of falter that occured in part 2!

I enjoyed Prey alot, it was far from a perfect game but had some very original content, and a well defined atmosphere.

I'd be happy to see prey 2.

Well... This is no suprise to me. I already Prey 2 will be announced someday. as it was already confirmed in the first game that "Prey will Continue". Anyone who's played this game should already know this... A cutscene appears right after the game ending... but only if you do NOT skip the credits. I don't remember what exactly happens in that cutscene.. & i won't spoil it for anyone. so this isn't very surprising.. but im really excited for this one. What i want to see announced is..... QUAKE 5. that would be ****** awesome!!
what engine will the game be using this time ? i would definitely like to see teh Doom 3 engine getting back into the action and competing against unreal 3. i liked the first one and it really had superb graphics. & i didn't even know that it used doom 3 engine.
