On Thursday, shareware developer Maintain released version 4.0.2 of Cocktail (Tiger Edition), Cocktail, the popular shareware utility program that allows for additional Mac OS X system tests.

The new version, a 1.8 megabyte download, adds the following fixes and changes:-Improved network optimization presets.
-Fixed a bug causing Safari RSS reader to report NSPOSIXErrorDomain:2 error.
-Address an issue in which system log server may not be restarted during rotation of the log files.
-Improved clearing of temporary files.
-Fixed a bug that may cause Cocktail to bypass S.M.A.R.T. status check on external hard drives.
-Addresses minor compatibility issues with Microsoft Office 2008.
-Added support for Firefox 3.
-Updated Help files.
Cocktail 4.0.1 retails for a US$14.95 shareware registration fee and requires Mac OS X 10.4 or later to run.
