Canada's Sainte-Catherine Apple Store Opens July 25
by , 9:15 AM EDT, July 23rd, 2008
Apple is planning to open its seventh store in Canada on Friday, July 25. The Sainte-Catherine retail store in Montreal will open its doors at 5:00 PM local time, and will sport the usual amenities including a Genius Bar and One to One shopping.
Apple announced during its third quarter earnings report on July 21 that it plans to have 242 stores open by the end of the year. The Mac and iPhone maker closed the quarter with 211 open stores that generated US$1.44 billion in sales.

Observer Comments
Well, it's about time! Montreal is teeming with graphics studios and ad agencies, many of them focused on the Quebec marketplace since it is unlike the rest of North America: it's almost all French! Ste Catherine street is the main shopping corridor for the city. The new store's location is also right next to Crescent street, where trendy and mostly English Montrealers hang out as well. Crescent street is a great party street, especially during events like the F1 race and now NASCAR, when the street is closed off to vehicles. There has been a dearth of Apple locations since BMac closed its doors a couple of years ago (not including BestBuy/FutureShop --- blech!). Good news!
